Deadfall Protocol
About Deadfall Protocol
Dude, you awake? I literally just finished playing Deadfall Protocol and I cannot sleep. It's like 11 PM and my brain is still buzzing.
Remember that description someone gave us? About it being an "explosive action-packed arcade" with "relentless zombie hordes" and "non-stop action"? Yeah, that was, like, totally wrong. It's like describing a really good book as "just words on paper." Technically true but completely misses the point.
Honestly, I was expecting just another zombie shooter, you know? Run in, blast everything. But Deadfall Protocol? It's not that at all. It's like, a puzzle game disguised as a horror game, or something. The first time I played, I ran out of ammo in like two minutes because I was just shooting everything, and then I was stuck with a wrench, hiding in a closet. I was so mad, like "this game sucks!" But then I realized I had to *think*.
Like, there was this one part in the old research lab, and the power was out. I could hear the shamblers but couldn't see them. Instead of just running in, I found this old power conduit thing, but it was broken. I had to, like, reroute the power through these old circuits, and it was so satisfying when the lights flickered on and I could finally see the path. And the *sound* when the power came back on, this low hum, it just made everything feel so much more real. Your not just shooting, your figuring stuff out.
I don't usually like games where you have to be super clever, I just wanna blow stuff up, but this was different. It makes you feel like you're really there, trying to survive, not just playing a game. I told Leo he needs to try it, and he usually only plays football games, so that's saying something.
I looked at the clock and it was 2 AM, I was supposed to be in bed hours ago. I was just trying to get past one more "zone" – they call them zones, not levels, which is kinda cool. Because it's not about beating a level, it's about surviving a *place*.
There are zombies, sure, but they're not the main event. It's the environment, the way you have to use what's around you. It's like, you gotta trick them, or sneak past, or find a weird way to block a door with a broken desk. It's really good. Really, really good. You gotta try it. Seriously.
